Science NetLinks, a resource for science teachers, says we have about one hundred trillion cells in our body. For today at least, think of yourself as the carrier and steward of all those cells, because that's what you are.
Consider this- You are only as healthy as your cells are, and your cells are only as healthy as the water that fills and surrounds them. Make sense so far?
Let's put a picture to things. Have you ever seen a fish in an aquarium when the water was overdue for a change? That fish is not at its best, because it can only be as well as the water it "breathes" and swims in.
Being “not at your best”, as a person, can show up in a lot of ways, from high blood pressure, to diabetes, to a long list of common ills that are either caused or exacerbated by too much acidity -a basic kind of waste that easily accumulates in our body. Diet plays an important role here, as does our topic at hand- the kind of water or beverages you drink.
Remember, your cells are much like that fish, breathing and swimming in water that commonly is on the acidic (unhealthy) side of the pH chart. Even though you can't see them through glass, your cells are just as real.

Vitamins and nutrition have an important role in health, but by themselves won't address the primary problem of the fish in our example, and it's the same with your cells. When the body ph is too acidic, it's almost impossible to experience the higher levels of well-being that would otherwise be possible.

Typical water found in our water supply, including bottled, is often referred to as “dead” water by those in this field. That is because by the time it is treated and stored in municipal supplies, it has lost much of the mineral and alkaline properties that once characterized water which historically flowed down rocky mountain streams and ran into the clean springs, rivers, and reservoirs that people drew from.
So that "friend" we need then, is water- but not the ordinary tap or bottled water that most people reach for.
While ordinary water is OK for hydrating, it's not enough to counter all the acidic influences or make up for lost minerals. Unless you're eating lots of raw green (alkaline) vegetables several times a day, you need alkaline, mineral-rich water that will buffer acidity and clean up your inner terrain.

Last word on this- I have a challenge for you. It's a little blunt, but if you're willing to take it on, it's one that is likely to impact your health and well-being in a profound way. You are the only one who knows exactly what it is like to live in your body. Look up the phrase "dangers of sports drinks" on Google and you'll come up with around 2 and a half Million entries. Just spending a few minutes there is an education in itself, and a chance to see what many have felt for a long time- that these drinks are more marketing than substance- more packaging than anything else.
Often between 2.9 and 5 on the pH scale, they are worse than most acidic foods. A typical American adds around 20% more calories from this habit, and the insulin-inducing mechanisms and roller-coaster blood sugar swings are translated into a signal for fat-storage and other problems.
